Gentensho

Japanese:
Gentensho

A legal code from the Yuan Dynasty in China. Its official name is "Great Yuan Sheng Zheng Guo Chao Tenzhang." It contains nearly 2,400 official documents issued over several decades from the beginning of the Yuan Dynasty to the 1320s. They are either laws that provide general or general regulations or precedents that provide instructions on how to deal with specific issues. They are arranged according to content into the categories of officials, households, rituals, soldiers, penalties, and work. The writing style used is called "official letter style," which is different from general literary language, and literal translations of Mongolian into slang. It is believed that this book was published in 1321 or 1322 by a private publisher in the Jiangxi region who obtained documents from government offices, but it is believed that a type of inspector temporarily dispatched from the central government, known as a "Feng Shi Senbu," played a role in its publication.
