Early modern Japanese music

Japanese: 近世邦楽 - きんせいほうがく

..."Hogaku" is sometimes used in an even narrower sense, excluding gagaku, chōmiyō (Buddhist vocal music), heikyoku, nohgaku, and rōkyoku. In other words, the narrowest definition of "hogaku" includes only early modern Japanese music (often called "early modern Japanese music") that uses the shamisen, koto, shakuhachi, and other instruments. When classifying Japanese music, it is first divided into the narrow definition of "Japanese music" mentioned above, that is, traditional music, and Western music.
