A chemical or serological reaction used primarily in connection with crime to detect (detect blood constituents) possible or suspected blood spots on the scene of a crime, on the murder weapon, clothing, etc. Bloodstains come in many forms; they may be very small, light in color, or hidden by the color of the fabric, making them difficult to see with the naked eye; they may also be stained with soy sauce, sauce, paint, or other similar substances. おもに犯罪に関連して,その現場,凶器(成傷器),衣類などに血液の斑痕(血痕)らしいものが付いていたり付いていることが疑われる場合に,それを確かめる(血液の構成分を検出する)ために利用される化学的または血清学的な反応。血痕の付き方はいろいろで,非常に小さかったり,色が薄かったり,あるいは布地の色でかくされたりして,肉眼ではよく見えないこともあるし,またしょうゆ,ソース,ペンキなど,血痕と紛らわしいものが付いていることもある。
