Xingzhou Kiln (English name)

Japanese: 邢州窯 - けいしゅうよう（英語表記）Xing-zhou-yao

A kiln and its porcelain believed to have been located near Neiqiu County, Xingzhou, Hebei Province, China. It was produced extensively during the Tang dynasty, and is as famous as Yuezhou kilns. It is particularly known for its white porcelain, characterized by a snow-white, soft surface. Most of the porcelain is plain white, but there are rare cases of porcelain with patterns. The site of the Xingzhou kiln has yet to be discovered, and there are many questions that await future research. One representative relic brought to Japan is the "White Porcelain Phoenix-Neck Vase" (Tokyo National Museum).

中国，河北省邢州内邱県近傍にあったと推定される窯およびその磁器。唐代に盛んに生産され，越州窯とともに著名。ことに白磁が名高く，肌が雪のように白くやわらかい感じが特色。一般に白無地のものが多いが，まれに文様のあるものがある。邢州窯址は未発見で今後の研究にまつ問題が多い。日本伝来の代表的遺品に『白磁鳳首瓶』 (東京国立博物館) がある。
