Matos Rodríguez, GH (English spelling)

...The most widely known tango song. It is said to have been composed by Gerardo Hernán Matos Rodríguez (c. 1897-1948) of Uruguay when he was a student, and there are various theories about the year it was composed, including 1914 and 1917. It is said to have been first performed by pianist Roberto Firpo (1884-1969), but there are also other theories.
