Gyeonggi Bay - Gyeonggiwan

Japanese:
Gyeonggi Bay - Gyeonggiwan

A bay on the west coast of Gyeonggi Province, South Korea, facing the Yellow Sea (called the West Sea on the Korean Peninsula). The Imjin River, the Yeseong River, and the Han River flow into it. It stretches from Changsangok in North Hwanghae Province in the north to the Taean Peninsula in South Chungcheong Province in the south, and there are about 130 islands scattered within the bay, including Ganghwa Island, Yeongjong Island, and the Deokjeok Islands. The large tidal range (8-9 meters) is unfavorable for port development, so special facilities (lock gates) were built for cargo handling. Incheon Port within the bay is Korea's second largest trading port after Busan, and as the gateway to the capital region, commerce and industry have developed greatly.
