…For a time, they also bought silk directly from the production area, but they accepted raw silk (noboseito) from shippers in Omi, Mino, Hida, Echizen, Kai, Kozuke, Musashi, Mutsu, etc., and sold it to the silk brokers at the market price set by the silk broker association, after which they settled the transaction with the shippers. Many of them also worked with silk wholesalers who had similar business practices, and were often collectively called silk and silk wholesalers.
