One of the world's leading aircraft engine manufacturers, this representative American conglomerate has about 50 machinery manufacturers under its umbrella. Headquartered in Hartford, Connecticut. Founded in 1925 as Pratt & Whitney Aircraft, an aircraft engine manufacturer, the company became United Aircraft & Transport Corp. in 1928. With the enactment of the Air Mail Act in 1934, the transportation division was separated from the manufacturing division, and the manufacturing division was established in Delaware as United Aircraft Corp.
