An abbreviation for "kurashiki," a place for temporarily storing taxes and other items to be transported from a manor to the head office or lord's residence. There were buildings (warehouses) for storing taxes and offices there, and they were usually located at the location of the manor office, which was the center of the manor, but in manors that could use water transportation, they were often located at ferry docks. In addition, kurashiki sometimes took up more land than was necessary for a warehouse, and eventually became independent manors.
