Just as "shuku" is read as either Shijimaru or Tsuzumaru in the "Hokkekyo Tanji" and "Kanchiin Honmyōgishō," there were synonyms for Shijimu and Shijimaru, such as Tsuzumu and Tsuzumaru. This is thought to be related to the change from Shiji to Chiji.
