Wādī al-'Araba (English spelling)

…The Galilee Mountains (Jibāl al‐Jalīl) at the northern end of Palestine are connected to the Lebanon Mountains to the north, and cities such as Safad and Nazareth were born in the Galilee Mountains. Southern Palestine, further south from the Judean Mountains, forms a large triangle like the tip of a sword or the butt of a gun, jutting into the Gulf of Aqaba in the Red Sea. This part is the Negev Desert, which continues directly into the Sinai Desert to the west, and faces the wilderness of the Sharaf Mountains in southern Jordan, across the part of the Jordan Rift Valley south of the Dead Sea, namely, the Wadi al‐'Araba, to the east. In the plains and mountains facing the Mediterranean Sea in Palestine, and also in the Plain of Esdraelon (Ibn 'Amir Plain) that spreads between the Samaritan Mountains and the Galilean Mountains, the cultivation of fruit trees and grains has been popular since ancient times. …
