Quasimodo

Italian poet. Born in Sicily. Influenced by the trend of symbolic poetry known as pure poetry (Hermetismo), he initially sang of nostalgia for the mythical world of his hometown, but later turned to writing poetry on realistic themes in the wake of the resistance movement during World War II. He was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1959. His poetry collections include "And Soon the Sun Sets" and "Day after Day." Source : Heibonsha Encyclopedia About MyPedia Information |

イタリアの詩人。シチリアの出身。初め純粋詩〈エルメティズモ〉と呼ばれる象徴詩の潮流の影響を受けながら故郷の神話的世界への郷愁をうたい，のち第２次大戦の抵抗運動に際して現実的主題の詩作に転じた。1959年ノーベル文学賞。詩集には《そしてすぐに日は暮れる》《来る日も来る日も》などがある。
