[Died] January 6, 1829. Born in Brno, Hungary. A linguist who conducted comparative research on Slavic languages and was one of the pioneers of this field. His works include Institutiones linguae slavicae dialecti veteris (1822) (Ancient Slavic Grammar). He also wrote a book on the grammar and history of the Czech language, which contributed to the modernization of the Czech language.
