A travelogue of Siberia written in both Chinese and Manchu by the Manchu Turishen. Published in 1724, the Manchu version is more detailed. In 1712, the Qing Emperor Kangxi dispatched an envoy to Ayuki Khan of Turgut (Turhute) in Volga Kalmykia, who was then a nomadic tribe living north of the Caspian Sea, to encourage him to return to the Qing dynasty. Turishen, who joined the envoy, traveled from the Tora River in Outer Mongolia through the Selenge River, Lake Baikal, the Angara River, the Yenisei River, the Ob River, the Kama River, and the Volga River to Turgut, and in 1715, returned to Beijing. This travelogue details what he saw and heard on the way, as well as his negotiations with Russian authorities. It is a valuable historical document that conveys the actual situation in Siberia in the 18th century.
