National Chronicle - Kokki

Japanese: 国記 - こっき

A historical book compiled by Prince Shotoku and Soga no Umako. Completed in the 28th year of the reign of Empress Suiko (620). It is said to have been created along with the "Tenno-ki" and "Omi-no-mi-no-miyatsuko-ku-no-miyatsuko-hyakujube-nami-komin-do-honki," but neither of these survive to this day. It is said that the "Tenno-ki" and "Koku-ki" were burned along with the Soga clan's residence during the Taika Reforms (645), and only parts of the "Koku-ki" were taken out. Some theories suggest that it was left unfinished at the Soga clan's residence, or that it may have been a type of local chronicle.

聖徳太子，蘇我馬子によって撰された歴史書。推古 28 (620) 年完成。『天皇記』『臣連伴造国造百八十部并公民等本紀』とともにつくられたとされるが，現在，いずれも伝わっていない。大化改新 (645) の際，蘇我氏の邸とともに『天皇記』と『国記』は焼失し，一部の『国記』だけが持出されたともいう。未完成のまま蘇我氏の邸にあったものと推測する説，あるいは風土記の類ではなかったかとする説もある。
