Year of birth: Year of birth unknown. Military commander of the Azuchi-Momoyama period. Son of Kimura Sadashige. There are various theories about his name, including Shigezu, Sadamitsu, and Shigetaka, but it is not certain, and it is said that he was also called Hayatomasa. He served Toyotomi Hideyoshi, and served as the garrison commander of the Omidō Kiyama Fort in the Battle of Shizugatake in 1583. Due to his achievements, he became the lord of Sakaki Kuniyoshi Castle in Wakasa, and after the Battle of Komaki and Nagakute, he was given 120,000 koku as the lord of Echizen Fuchū Castle. In the siege of Odawara in 1584, he led the attack on Musashi Iwatsuki Castle, and was also instrumental in the subsequent suppression of the Dewa Senboku Rebellion. He was implicated in the downfall of Toyotomi Hidetsugu in 1595, and committed suicide at Daimon-ji Temple (Ibaraki City) near Yamazaki in Yamashiro Province. His grave is also in the same temple. He was also famous as a tea master, and was counted among Sen no Rikyu's Seven Masters.

安土桃山時代の武将。木村定重の子。名は重茲,定光,重高など諸説あり確定的ではなく,隼人正と称したこともあるらしい。豊臣秀吉に仕え,天正11(1583)年の賤ケ岳の戦では,近江堂木山砦の守備大将を務めている。その功によって,若狭の佐柿国吉城主となり,小牧・長久手の戦ののち,越前府中城主として12万石を与えられた。天正18年の小田原攻めには,武蔵岩付城攻撃に当たり,その後に続く出羽仙北一揆平定にも功があった。文禄4(1595)年の豊臣秀次失脚事件に連座し,山城国山崎に近い大門寺(茨木市)で自刃した。墓所も同寺。茶人としても有名で,千利休の台子七人衆のひとりに数えられている。
