〘noun〙① Gold-colored thread. Thin paper with gold leaf placed on it and cut into thin strips or twisted , silver or copper wire coated with gold, silk, cotton or rayon thread twisted with gold leaf, etc. Used in various decorations such as brocade fabric, embroidery and sewing. Gold gauze . Gold. ※Suga-ke Bunsou ( around 900) 6: Fu Shin En Sai Yanagiwara "The green veil opens and the eyebrows are drawn out , the gold thread is tied and the cocoon is still reeling in ." ※Ukigumo ( 1887-89 )〈 Futabatei Shimei〉 2: "The half -collar of the undergarment is also black crepe with gold thread. " ② A type of lacquer art. It is similar to tsuishu , but the deep carvings have many lines of overlapping vermilion and black lacquer. [Kindai Kansocho-ki (1511)] ③ A classification name based on the appearance of agarwood. The resin appears shiny in the vertical section, like ①. It is especially seen in high-quality shingara. ④ = Kinshisai (gold thread vegetable)

〘名〙① 金色の糸。薄紙に金箔(きんぱく)を置いて細く切ったものや縒(よ)ったもの、銀・銅の針金に金着(きんきせ)したもの、絹糸・綿糸・レーヨン糸などの芯に金の切箔を縒りつけたものなど。金襴(きんらん)の織物、刺繍(ししゅう)、縫い取りなど種々の装飾に用いられる。金紗(きんしゃ)。金(きん)。※菅家文草(900頃)六・賦新煙催柳色「翠黛開眉纔画出、金絲結繭未繰将」※浮雲(1887‐89)〈二葉亭四迷〉二「襦袢の半襟も黒縮緬に金糸(キンシ)で」② 漆芸の一種。堆朱(ついしゅ)に類似するが、深い彫り目に朱漆と黒漆の重なりによる筋が多く見える。〔君台観左右帳記(1511)〕③ 沈香木の外観での分類名称。縦断面に樹脂分が①のように輝いて見えるもの。特に上質の新伽羅に見受ける。④ =きんしさい(金糸菜)
