(1) One of the medieval samurai Settsu Watanabe clan. Its origins are unclear, but according to the Endo family tree, its ancestor is Fujiwara Tadafumi, the Minister of Minbu, who became Seito Daishogun during the Taira no Masakado Rebellion. From the end of the Heian period, they lived in the Imperial Estate of Oe Mikuriya and Settsu Watanabe, and were related by marriage to the Watanabe clan, descended from the Saga Genji clan, and were active as one of the Watanabe clan. The clan was involved in port management, and presented offerings of fish and other things to the Imperial Court. They were also appointed as Takiguchi, Mushadokoro, and Hokumen for generations, and served the Imperial Court and the Imperial Court as samurai. The clan also produced Tennoji Executors and Settsu Kuni Shikinaisha Zama no Suke (one of the chief priest positions at Zama Shrine), and had influence over temples and shrines. (1)中世武士摂津渡辺党の一つ。出自は明確ではないが,遠藤系図では平将門の乱に征東大将軍となった参議民部卿藤原忠文を祖としている。平安時代末ころより皇室領大江御厨内・摂津渡辺に住し,嵯峨源氏流渡辺氏と姻戚関係をもちながら渡辺党の一つとして活動した。一族は港湾管理に従事し魚類などの供御(くご)を朝廷に貢進するとともに,代々滝口,武者所,北面などに任じられ,武士として朝廷,院に仕えた。また一族より天王寺執行・摂津国式内社座摩祐(ざまのすけ)(座摩神社の神主職の一つ)を出し,寺社とも関係し勢力をもった。
