A scholar of Japanese classics from the late Edo period. He was the son of Kishimoto Sanuki (whose real name was Asada), a Shogunate archer from Shirokane-cho, Edo, who was the model for Santo Kyoden's Edo-made Lustful Birch Burner. He was commonly known as Osumi. His pen name was Yamabukisono. He became a disciple of Murata Harumi after his death. He is the author of many books, including Man'yoshu Kosho (Consideration of the Manyoshu) (completed in 1828), Tosa Nikki Kosho (Consideration of the Tosa Diary) (published in 1818), and Naruto Chujo Monogatari Kosho (Consideration of the Naruto Chujo Monogatari) (published in 1817). In 1820 (Bunsei 3), he became the sponsor of the Tamagawa Theater's plays, which gained him a reputation. He died on May 17, leap year, 1845, at the age of 58. His grave still stands at Hayashi Soin in Nerima, Nerima Ward, Tokyo. The manuscripts are held at the Seikado Bunko and other institutions.
