Doha - Doha (English spelling)

Japanese: ドーハ - どーは(英語表記)Doha
Doha - Doha (English spelling)

The capital of Qatar. It is a port city located on the east coast of the Qatari Peninsula in the northeast of the Arabian Peninsula, facing the Arabian Gulf (Persian Gulf). With a population of 264,009 (1997 census) and 308,800 (2002 estimate), it is where most of the country's population is concentrated. Since the oil development boom, many foreign workers have flowed in from neighboring countries. In place of the traditional pearl-fishing, fishing, and metalworking industries, in recent years the city has become more important as a commercial and trading city. In addition to agriculture and fishing using modern management methods, the city is also focusing on industrialization in areas such as steelmaking, chemical fertilizers, natural gas, and petrochemicals.
