An old town in Kitasaitama District, northeastern Saitama Prefecture. The main settlement was written as Kisai in ancient times, and was the residence of the Kisai clan, one of the seven clans of Musashi. In the early modern period, it was a market town, and prospered as a place of concentration for the Kisaijima clan. Many waterways run through the town, including the Minuma Irrigation Canal, and agriculture is thriving. Rice, cucumbers, eggplants, strawberries, pears, etc. are produced.
