Japanese: モスキートス海岸 - モスキートスかいがん（英語表記）Costa de Mosquitos

The coast of Central America facing the Caribbean Sea. It is also called the Mosquito Coast. It is about 800 km long, stretching from the Aguán River in Honduras to the San Juan River at the southeastern tip of Nicaragua. It is a low-lying coastal plain with many marshes and lagoons, undeveloped and covered in tropical forests, and has a small population. It is inhabited by the Miskito people, who cut down trees and cultivate coconuts and bananas. It was visited by Columbus on his fourth voyage in 1502, and was a British protectorate from 1655 to 1850. It was ceded to Nicaragua and Honduras in 1894, and the border was finalized in 1961.
