A town on Kikaijima Island in Oshima District, Kagoshima Prefecture. The entire island is made up of low-lying, elevated coral reefs. The town is known for its sugar cane, horticulture, livestock farming, and sugar manufacturing. Oshima Tsumugi silk and brown sugar shochu are its specialties. There is an air route and regular sea route between Naze, and a regular sea route between Kagoshima Airport. Area: 56.82 km2 . Population: 8,169 (2010). 鹿児島県大島郡，喜界島を占める町。全島低平な隆起サンゴ礁からなり，サトウキビを中心に園芸，畜産を行い，製糖工業が盛ん。大島紬(つむぎ)，黒糖焼酎(しょうちゅう)を特産。名瀬との間に航空路と定期航路，鹿児島空港との間に定期航路がある。56.82km2。8169人（2010）。
