A town on Kikaijima Island in Oshima District, Kagoshima Prefecture. The entire island is made up of low-lying, elevated coral reefs. The town is known for its sugar cane, horticulture, livestock farming, and sugar manufacturing. Oshima Tsumugi silk and brown sugar shochu are its specialties. There is an air route and regular sea route between Naze, and a regular sea route between Kagoshima Airport. Area: 56.82 km2 . Population: 8,169 (2010).
