"Song of the Red Flag"

...In the Taisho period, the labor movement gained momentum, and many labor songs were born that remain to this day, such as "The Red Flag" (translated by Katsumaro Akamatsu, 1921. The original song was "The Red Flag," with lyrics written by the British Jim Connell in 1889 to the melody of the German folk song "The Fir Tree") and "May Day Song" ("Listen, Workers of the World," 1922).
