Kannami [town] - Kannami

Japanese: 函南[町] - かんなみ

A town in Tagata County, eastern Shizuoka Prefecture. Most of the town is mountainous at the foot of Mt. Hakone, but the Tokaido Main Line passes through the central part via the Tanna Tunnel, and Kannami Station is located there. The southwestern part is the alluvial lowland of the Kano River, and is the center of dairy farming in North Izu. Rice is grown, and greenhouse horticulture such as strawberries, eggplants, and tomatoes is also carried out. The town is home to Hatake Onsen and the Tanna Fault (a natural monument), and is served by the Izu Hakone Railway. Area: 65.16 ^km2 . Population: 38,571 (2010).

静岡県東部，田方(たがた)郡の町。大部分は箱根山麓の山地で，中部を東海道本線が丹那トンネルで通じ，函南駅がある。南西部は狩野(かの)川の沖積低地で北伊豆酪農の中心をなし，米作，イチゴ・ナス・トマトなどの施設園芸も行う。畑毛(はたけ)温泉，丹那断層（天然記念物）があり，伊豆箱根鉄道が通じる。65.16km²。３万8571人（2010）。
