A former town in Kitasaitama-gun, northeastern Saitama Prefecture. It borders Gunma, Tochigi, and Ibaraki prefectures. The town is located in lowlands between the Tone River to the south and the Watarase River to the east, and produces rice, tomatoes, strawberries, cucumbers, eggplants, and other crops. The Tobu Nikko Line runs through the town. In March 2010, it merged with Kazo City, Kisai Town in Kitasaitama-gun, and Otone Town. 21.00 km2 . Population: 13,307 (2005).
