A downtown area in Shinjuku, Tokyo. Developed as part of the post-World War II reconstruction policy, the area was named after the plans to build a Kabukiza theater there. Home to numerous restaurants and adult entertainment establishments, it is known as a large entertainment district on a par with Susukino in Hokkaido and Nakasu in Fukuoka.
