Kazuma

Japanese: 数馬 - かずま

This area is located in the western part of Hinode Village, Tokyo. It is a mountain village rich in beautiful valleys, where the headwaters of Minamiakigawa, a tributary of Akigawa, flow from Mt. Mitsuto and other nearby mountains, and where the river meets. It was once considered a hidden gem in Tokyo, but the opening of the toll road to Okutama has led to an increase in guesthouses and mountain lodges. There are also many Koshu-style houses built in the Kabuto style. Kazuma Pass is located to the northwest of the area, and is a key location on the hiking trails to Mt. Mitsuto and Okutama.

東京都檜原村の西部にある地区。秋川の支流，南秋川が，三頭山をはじめ付近の山々から落ちる源流の集る地点で，渓谷美に富む山間集落である。東京の秘境といわれたが，奥多摩へ抜ける有料道路の開通によって民宿や山荘がふえた。甲州風のかぶと造の民家も多い。数馬峠はその西北方にあり，三頭山や奥多摩への登山道の要地。
