Motoyoshi [town] - Motoyoshi

Japanese: 本吉[町] - もとよし

An old town in Motoyoshi County, northeastern Miyagi Prefecture. Although it is mostly mountainous, there are lowlands along the Pacific coast, and the main settlement, Tsuya, once flourished as a post station. The Kesennuma Line runs through the town. Silkworm farming, dairy farming, rice cultivation, and tobacco cultivation are carried out here, and abalone and sea urchins are also caught. Otani Beach is a swimming beach. Incorporated into Kesennuma City in September 2009. ^{106.70 km2} . Population: 11,588 (2005).
