〘名〙① 馬の横腹の前部で、鐙の当たる所。また、鐙が当たってできたたこ。あぶずり。〔十巻本和名抄（934頃）〕② 近世の武具のすね当てで、鉸具(かこ)の当たる部分。鐙のために摺れるのを防ぐために、内側下方の部分を切り欠いて、馬革を当てた。鉸具摺(かくずり)。③ 泥障(あおり)の下方の鐙の当たる部分。近世は、泥障全体をもいう。播磨革(はりまがわ)などで作った簡単な泥障。※和訓栞（1777‐1862）あぶみずり「武士の騎馬出立といふにも泥障さすべからず。但あぶみすりは苦しからずといふ事あり。泥障とは毛皮をいひ、鐙磨とは播磨革のまる作をいふよし註したれば、鐙磨といひしは今の板泥障といふ物の類にやといへり」④ 乗馬の鐙がすれるほど、左右に岩石などが迫った狭い道。あぶずり。転じて、多く地名ともなる。※吾妻鏡‐寿永元年（1182）一一月一〇日「広綱、奉_レ相_二伴彼人_一〈略〉到_二于大多和五郎義久鐙摺宅_一云々」
