School Lunch Law - gakkou kyushokuho

Law No. 160 of 1954. The basic law for the implementation of school lunches in compulsory education schools. This law stipulates that school operators must make efforts to implement school lunches, as school lunches contribute to the healthy development of children's bodies and minds, and to the improvement of the nation's diet. The expenses for school lunches, such as facility and equipment fees and salaries for related staff, are to be borne by the operator, while the rest are to be borne by the parents of the children and students, and the state may subsidize part of these expenses. In addition, there are provisions regarding the supply of flour for school lunches at low prices.

昭和 29年法律 160号。義務教育諸学校における学校給食の実施に関する根拠法律。本法では，学校給食が児童生徒の心身の健全な発達に資し，かつ国民の食生活の改善に寄与することから，学校設置者は学校給食の実施について努力しなければならないとされている。学校給食の経費については，施設設備費や関係職員の給与費などは設置者が，それ以外は児童生徒の保護者が負担するものとし，国は，それらの経費の一部を補助することができる。このほか，給食用の小麦粉の低廉な価格での供給などに関する規定がおかれている。
