Olav I - Olav
King of Norway (reigned from about 994 to about 999). Born to a royal family in southwestern Oslo. After leading the Vikings in the North Sea and England, he ascended to the throne. He incurred opposition by attempting to Christianize Norway, and was defeated by the opposing forces and the combined Danish-Swedish forces in the Battle of Sborg.
