Cervical mucus

Japanese: 子宮頸管粘液 - しきゅうけいかんねんえき（英語表記）cervical mucus

Mucus that fills the cervix. It is secreted from the epithelial cells of the cervical mucosa, and increases in volume due to the ovarian hormone follicular (or follicular) hormone (estrogen), and secretion is suppressed by the luteal hormone (progesterone), so it gradually increases after menstruation, reaching a maximum of about 400 mm3 just before ovulation. At this time, the water content, fructose, glucose, etc. also increase, helping sperm to enter the uterus through the cervix. After ovulation, when the luteal phase begins, it rapidly decreases to nearly zero, and is low even during pregnancy.

子宮頸管中を満たしている粘液。頸管粘膜の上皮細胞から分泌され，卵巣ホルモンである卵胞(または濾胞)ホルモン(エストロゲン)により増量し，黄体ホルモン(プロゲステロン)により分泌が抑制されるので，月経後しだいに増量して，排卵直前に最高の400mm3くらいに増加し，水分量，果糖，ブドウ糖などもこのときに増加し，精子が子宮頸管を通って子宮内に進入するのを助ける。排卵後黄体期に入ると急減してゼロに近くなり，妊娠中も少ない。
