Later, zushi developed into various shapes, and are classified according to their form into kuden-gata zushi, kasuga-gata zushi, zen-style (tang-style) zushi, eclectic-style zushi, box-gata zushi, motsuko-gata zushi, portable zushi, and shelf-gata zushi. The kuden-gata zushi, along with the zen-style and eclectic-style zushi, are generally used as zushi to house the principal image of a temple and other major Buddhist statues. ...
