Krishna [river] - Krishna
A river in central India. It is also called the Kistna. It is about 1,290 km long. It originates in the Western Ghats and flows roughly eastward, emptying into the Bay of Bengal south of Machilipatnam in Andhra Pradesh. Its main tributaries are the Bhima in southern Maharashtra and the Tungabhadra in Mysore. It has a fast current, but an irrigation network has been established in the central basin.
