A river in central India. It is also called the Kistna. It is about 1,290 km long. It originates in the Western Ghats and flows roughly eastward, emptying into the Bay of Bengal south of Machilipatnam in Andhra Pradesh. Its main tributaries are the Bhima in southern Maharashtra and the Tungabhadra in Mysore. It has a fast current, but an irrigation network has been established in the central basin.

インド半島中部の川。キストナKistna川とも。全長約1290km。西ガーツ山脈中に発し，ほぼ東流，アーンドラ・プラデーシュ州マチリパトナム南方でベンガル湾に注ぐ。おもな支流はマハーラーシュトラ州南部のビーマ川，マイソール州のトゥンガバドラー川。流れは急であるが，中部流域に灌漑(かんがい)網がつくられている。
