A mammal of the Suidae family in the order Artiodactyla (illustration). An African wild boar with beautiful reddish-brown or blackish-brown body coloring. It is found in sub-Saharan Africa and on the island of Madagascar. It has a white mane that runs along its back from the neck to the lumbar region, and its long, pointed ears have tufts of hair at the tips. When excited, the mane stands on end, making it even more noticeable. The tufts on its ears help to highlight the change in position of its ears, which changes depending on its mood, and thus inform its peers of its mood. It is 1-1.5m long, 55-80cm tall at the shoulder, and weighs 55-80kg. Source: Heibonsha World Encyclopedia, 2nd Edition Information |
