A former town in Nishikanbara County in central Niigata Prefecture. It lies south of Niigata City and borders the Nakanokuchi River and the Shinano River. Rice and vegetables are the main crops, but housing development and the expansion of factories are also prominent. The Hokuriku Expressway runs through the town.
