Mr. Osaji - Osaji Uji

...The Kamiza was organized and developed by those who were related to the paper craftsmen of the Kamiya-in of the Library Bureau under the Ritsuryo system. After the abolition of Kamiya-in, they manufactured paper such as shukugami for the Imperial Court. Among the higher-ranking Konobe (leaders), such as the Togai family, they were hereditarily appointed as the Zusoryō no yūjin and jukan, and served as Zusoryō officials in regular and special court ceremonies. On the other hand, the Shimoza was separated from the Kamiza and was initially subordinate to the Kamiza. However, the Shimoza no yūjin Osaji family rose to prominence amid the social turmoil and uprising caused by the Onin and Bunmei Wars, and in the Tenbun era (1532-55), when the Osaji family, like the Kamiza Togai family, was appointed as a jukan, the hierarchical relationship between the two groups seems to have virtually disappeared. From then on, these two families inherited the Zusoryō no yūjin and jukan positions, and led the Shukugamiza until the early modern period. ...

…上座は律令制下における図書寮紙屋院の紙工の系統の者によって組織され発展したもので，紙屋院廃絶以降の朝廷需要の宿紙などの紙類を製造するとともに，座の上位にある兄部（このこうべ）(統率者)のうち，例えば栂井氏などは世襲的に図書寮允，属官に補任されて恒例，臨時の朝儀の図書寮官人役を勤仕した。一方，下座は上座から分立したもので，当初は上座の下位にあったが，応仁･文明の乱による社会的混乱と下剋上の風潮の中から下座兄部小佐治氏が台頭し，天文年間(1532‐55)には上座栂井氏と同じく小佐治氏が允官に補任されるに及んで両座の上下関係は事実上なくなったようである。以降この両家が図書寮允，属官を世襲し，宿紙座を統率して近世に至っている。…
