Ikaros (English spelling)

In Greek mythology, Daedalus is the son of the craftsman Daedalus and Naucrate, a female slave of King Minos of Crete. Daedalus taught Ariadne how to rescue the hero Theseus from the labyrinth. When King Minos found out that Theseus had defeated the monster Minotaur, he was angry and imprisoned Daedalus and Icarus in the labyrinth. However, Daedalus invented wings and attached them to his and his son's shoulders with wax, and they succeeded in escaping from the labyrinth. However, his son Icarus flew too high, forgetting his father's warning not to fly too high, so the heat of the sun melted the wax on his wings, and he fell into the sea and drowned. The sea he fell into later became the Icarus Sea.
