The largest bipedal carnivorous terrestrial dinosaur that lived during the Late Cretaceous Period. It belongs to the theropoda suborder of the Saurischian order of the diapsid subclass of the reptiles. It can reach a body length of 15 m and a height of 6 m. It is known from North America and Mongolia in Asia. The skull is 1.5 m in size, thin on the sides, and high from top to bottom. In addition to two large temporal fenestrae, there is a third, smaller temporal fenestra between the maxilla and premaxilla. The teeth are well developed with sharp serrated edges on the front and back. There are four teeth on the premaxilla, 12 on the maxilla, and 13 to 14 on the dentary. 白亜紀後期に生存した地上最大の二足歩行の肉食性恐竜。爬虫綱双弓亜綱竜盤目の獣脚亜目Theropodaに属する。体長15mに達し,高さは6mになる。北アメリカとアジアのモンゴルから知られている。頭骨は1.5mの大きさがあり,側方は薄く,上下に高い。二つの大きな側頭窓のほかに上顎骨と前顎骨の間に第3の小さい側頭窓が開く。歯はよく発達し,前後にするどい鋸歯縁がある。前顎骨に4本,上顎骨に12本,歯骨に13~14本の歯が植立している。
