A calligrapher in the mid-Edo period. His pen name was Kantei. He was a calligrapher of the Oie school, and became a clerk at the Edo Nakamura Theater, where he changed the characters on the signs and rankings of kyogen performances to a style called Kantei-ryu. 江戸中期の書家。号、勘亭。お家流の書家で、江戸中村座の手代となり狂言の看板や番付の文字を勘亭流と呼ばれる書体に改めた。文化二年(一八〇五)没。
