Wolf spider (babysitter spider) - Wolf spider (English spelling)

Wolf spider (babysitter spider) - Wolf spider (English spelling)
A general term for spiders belonging to the Lycosidae family. They are so named because they walk around with egg sacs attached to their silk warts and carry the hatched spiderlings on their back and ventral sides for a while. Some species that live underground do not exhibit this babysitting behavior. Their body length varies from 5 to 15 mm, and they have three claws at the end of their walking legs. Some spiders, like the grass spider, spin webs, showing their affinities with web-building spiders, but most of them hunt by walking around without spinning webs, and like jumping spiders, their courtship behavior relies on their sense of sight.
