A military commander from the end of the Heian period to the beginning of the Kamakura period. He was known as Shiro, Heishiro, and Akushiro. He was the fourth son of Miura Yoshitsugu, and his wife was the daughter of Nakamura Sohei. He lived in Okazaki-go, Osumi-gun, Sagami. In 1180, he participated in Minamoto no Yoritomo's uprising, and was entrusted with the task of disposing of Nagao Sadakage, who had killed his eldest son Yoshitada in the Battle of Ishibashiyama. He later asked Yoritomo to spare his life, which was granted. He built a temple in Kamedani, Kamakura, to commemorate Minamoto no Yoshitomo's soul. He was highly valued as a senior retainer under Yoritomo. Later, after he became a nun in his old age, he fell into misfortune, and when Hojo Masako complained about the family's hardships, he mediated for Minamoto no Yoriie to give his territory to Yoshizane. He donated a banner to the Okuin temple at Mount Koya. He lived to the ripe old age of 89.

平安末・鎌倉前期の武将。四郎,平四郎,悪四郎と称す。三浦義継の4男,妻は中村宗平の娘。相模大住郡岡崎郷の住人。治承4(1180)年源頼朝の挙兵に参加,石橋山の戦で長子義忠を討った長尾定景を預かり,その処分をまかされたが,のち頼朝にその助命を願い許された。鎌倉亀谷に源義朝の菩提を弔い堂宇を建てる。頼朝のもとで宿老として重用された。のち老齢で出家後は不遇,家門の窮迫を訴えられた北条政子は,源頼家に所領を義実へ与えるように取りなした。高野山奥院に幡を寄進。89歳の長寿を保った。
