Okuma Bay

…Captain Shirase and five others traveled south on the Ross Ice Shelf with two sleds and 30 Sakhalin dogs, arriving at 80°05′ south latitude and 156°37′ west longitude on January 28th. They named the surrounding area Yamato Snowfields and set off on their return journey. During this time, the Kainan Maru sailed east, named Osumi Bay, and landed to collect rocks.
