Apollinarios (English spelling)

Japanese: アポリナリオス - あぽりなりおす(英語表記)Apollinarios
Apollinarios (English spelling)
Christian writer, c. 310-c. 390. Proponent of the Christological heresy Apollinarisism. Born in Laodicea, Syria. As a debater for the Nicene school in the Arian controversy, he was on friendly terms with Athanasius, and became Bishop of Laodicea in c. 360. He had a deep knowledge of Greek classics, and when Emperor Julian forbade Christians from receiving classical education, he wrote the stories of the Bible in the language and style of Greek classical literature. Apollinaris, who followed the tradition of Alexandrian theology, placed emphasis on the unity of the person in Christ, and believed that Christ had a human body and soul, but that the equivalent of reason was the divine logos.
