Hiroshige Ouchi

Japanese: 大内弘茂 - おおうち・ひろしげ

Year of death: December 29, 8th year of Oei (February 1, 1402)
Year of birth: Year of birth unknown. A military commander in the early Northern and Southern Courts and Muromachi periods. Shinsuke, Suo no Suke. Son of Hiroyo, younger brother of Yoshihiro. During the Oei Rebellion in 1399, he went to Sakai with Yoshihiro and fought against the Muromachi Shogunate forces. He was defeated and surrendered. He was later pardoned and became the guardian of Suo and Nagato. However, his brother Morimi rebelled against Hiroshige, so in July of the same year, he was ordered by the Shogunate to go down to Suo and Nagato to subjugate Morimi. Morimi escaped to Bungo. On December 29, 1399, he was killed in battle with Morimi at Shimoyama in Nagato Province.

南北朝・室町時代初期の武将。新介,周防介。弘世の子,義弘の弟。応永6(1399)年の応永の乱に際しては義弘と共に堺に行き,室町幕府軍と戦った。合戦に敗れて降伏。その後許され,周防・長門の守護となる。しかし,兄弟の盛見が弘茂に反抗したため,同7年7月,幕府の命を受けて盛見討伐のため周防・長門に下向。盛見は豊後に逃れた。同8年12月29日,長門国下山で盛見との戦のなか戦死した。
