These works depict the contemporary crisis from the perspective of a sensible British liberal in the form of a clear fable. In addition to these, he has also published many introductions and translations as a classical scholar, and since 1950 he has mainly published historical novels such as Caesar the Emperor (1960) and Pericles and the Athenians (1963). …
