…Rhythmic layering is often observed in rocks. This is caused by the accumulation of crystals from magma at the bottom, and is called rhythmic layering. An intrusive igneous rock body with such layering is called a layered intrusive body. The crystals accumulated at the bottom of the rock body are called cumulus minerals, and the liquid that fills the gaps between the accumulated minerals is called intercumulus liquid.
