Maritime sovereignty line

Japanese: 海洋主権線 - かいようしゅけんせん
Maritime sovereignty line

The South Korean government has the right to protect, conserve, and utilize all natural resources, minerals, and marine products on the surface, underwater, and seabed of this area, and exercises sovereignty over fisheries and fishing, but does not impede freedom of navigation. In Japan, it is commonly known as the Rhee Line, and in Korea it was originally called the Syngman Rhee Line or the Maritime Sovereignty Line, but the latter was later renamed the Peace Line. The area is the waters around the Korean Peninsula bounded on the east by a line connecting Gojeong, Uam-myeon, Gyeongheung-gun, North Hamgyong-do, 42°15′N, 130°45′E, 38°N, 132°50′E, 35°N, 130°E, 34°40′N, 129°10′E, and 32°N, 127°E; on the south by a line connecting 32°N, 124°E, 39°45′N, 124°E, the western end of Kurama Island, and the western end of the Korean-Chinese border.
