Water Ballet

Japanese: ウォーターバレエ - うぉーたーばれえ
Water Ballet

[history]
In England and Germany, starting around 1920, a form of mass-game-style school swimming was performed that combined floating and swimming to music under the name artistic swimming. It spread to the United States via Canada and developed into water ballet, and was shown as an exhibition at the Chicago World's Fair in 1934. This led to it being performed as an underwater show in various places. It then split into water ballet and the sports-like rhythmic swimming.
